2009 Stepping Stone Bursary

Alyssa Bullerwell

On June 25, Ms. Alyssa Bullerwell graduated from Yarmouth Consolidated Memorial High School and was awarded A Stepping Stone to a Brighter Future Bursary from the Black Cultural Society of Nova Scotia. This is the second year for this Bursary which covers the total cost of tuition and fees for a two-year full-time program at a Nova Scotia Community College, a value of approximately $6,000 . The Society is grateful to the bursary’s donors and to the independent, committee of members who volunteered to select the successful recipient based on academic ranking, financial need, extracurricular activity, essay and letters of recommendation. This year’s bursary winner has proven herself to be a dedicated student who excels at academics, has a commitment to her community and understands the importance of setting her goals for the future. We are extremely proud of Alyssa and wish her the best as she enters the Electronic Engineering Technician program at the NSCC. The Black Cultural Society encourages African Nova Scotia students to apply for A Stepping Stone to a Brighter Future Bursary each year as long as bursary funding is available.
