Deacon Nina AdamsWylie Cain

Wylie Cain off North Preston is Vice-President of the North Preston Day Care Centre and  former Treasurer of the North Preston Rate Payers Association. At St. Thomas United Baptist Church, North Preston he is on the church’s Usher Board  and the Sick Committee. Committee. Mr. Cain has been responsible for dedication of wheelchairs in at least five AUBA churches, showing his genuine concern for the needs of others.

 

Charles Francis ParisIrvine Carvery

Irvine Carvery  is Chair of the Halifax Regional School Board, sports coach for students and advocate for more effective anti-discrimination programmes. He is a clear voice and energetic President for the Africville Genealogical Society, leading the fight for fair treatment after the wrongful destruction of his home community. Irvine and his wife, Monica, have three children and three grandchildren.

 

Charles Francis ParisDennis Jackson

Dennis Jackson from Gibson Woods, is a leader in the Gibson Woods Baptist Church and the Valley African Nova Scotia Development Association. Dennis is proud of his 30 years in the Canadian military and generously shares his skills, wide experience and Navy training to enhance African Nova Scotian communities. Dennis and his wife Helena (Viner) are the proud of their 3 children, 6 grand children and 2 great-grand children.

 

Charles Francis ParisCarson Jackson

Carson Jackson is past Treasurer and Finance Chair for the Beechville Baptist Church. He and his wife, Joan, have a daughter and three sons. Carson built a successful business, held senior Masonic offices, coached provincial and regional championship sports teams, founded and led musical groups, volunteered and demonstrated his commitment to community. In 1998 he was Masonic Grand Master of Nova Scotia, the highest Masonic office held by any African Canadian.
