• Stepping Stone Bursary Awarded
Ms. Alyssa Bullerwell graduated from Yarmouth Consolidated Memorial High School and was awarded A Stepping Stone to a Brighter Future Bursary from the Black Cultural Society of Nova Scotia.

Rev. Jessie Jackson
On Monday, June 15, 2009, Rev. Jesse Jackson was greeted by about 10 leaders and community members when he made a last-minute visit to the Black Cultural Centre for Nova Scotia. Mr. Jackson was in Halifax to speak Monday night at the 60th anniversary dinner of the Nova Scotia Co-operative Council but he made time to visit Cole Harbour School and the Black Cultural Centre.

Summer Positions
The Black Cultural Society, parent organization of the Black Cultural Centre is pleased to offer summer job positions.

From These Roots - DVD Screening
Community members gathered at the Black Cultural Centre on Thursday, May 14th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. for a screening of the DVD documentary entitled "From These Roots" featuring the story of Nova Scotia's Basket maker Clara Clayton Gough and her efforts to carry on the artistry passed on from her mother, Edith Drummond Clayton. Basket making is part of the rich tradition of Blacks in Nova Scotia.

26th Anniversary Dinner
The "Night of Heroes" Black Cultural Centre 26th Anniversary Dinner Celebration. We will be honouring five long term supporters as heroes . Saturday June 20, 2009 - 6:00p.m. - Park Place Ramada Plaza Hotel. This event was postponed and re-scheduled for April 17, 2010. Follow the link below for more information.

The Black Cultural Society of Nova Scotia is pleased to present a Bursary – “A Stepping Stone to a Brighter Future”.  This Bursary is awarded to African Nova Scotian students graduating from a Nova Scotia High School or an Adult High School.
